LIC Apprentice Development Officers Exam Preparation Plan



LIC of India Employment NewsLife Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is conducting written tests for the posts of Apprentice Development Officers in various states. Let’s learn about the Eligibility, mode of Examination and how to prepare for it. 

LIC Development Officers Duties to be performed

LIC Apprentice Development officers supervises the sales of the Insurance products. These Apprentice Development Officers have to recruit and train the Agents, as well as they have to help the Agents in the sales of Insurance products. They have to discuss with the New Policy holders, if any doubt arises. The allotted area should be toured along with agents by giving all kinds of support.

Eligibility for LIC Apprentice Development Officer Posts

An applicant must have Bachelor’s Degree. Preference will be given to those candidates who have Masters Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing. The applicant must be between 21 Yrs to 30 yrs of age. Preference will be given to those candidates who have worked with Life Insurance Corporation of India for at least 2 Years.

Selection procedure of LIC ADO

Selection will be made purely on the basis of Written Test and Interview of the candidates.

Written Test – Topics

Online test will be of objective type. It consists of two papers.
1.     Reasoning ability and Numerical ability
2.     General Knowledge, Current affairs and English Language.

LIC Exam Duration

The duration of Examination will be for 2 Hours.

Note: The Negative Marking system is adopted in the examination, the percentage of negative marking will be decided by LIC.

Candidate must pass in all papers and should obtain minimum marks in the aggregate of the two papers to get eligibility for the interview.

To get success in this examination Speed and practical Work is most essential. Every subject should be read thoroughly from the fundamentals. 

Reasoning Ability

The test of reasoning section is designed to test your thinking power, mode of attempting the problem etc; it contains different kinds of questions from Blood relations, Coding- Decoding, Letter Sequences, Seating arrangement, Statements, cause and effect like.


The questions from this Subject will be easy to solve. To acquire good marks in reasoning one should be well learned about Symbols, Letter Series, Blood Relations, Coding – Decoding.  Reading and solving the Model papers should be done by the candidates.

Numerical ability

This section consists of Number systems ( Computation of Whole Number), Decimal and fractions, Relationship between Numbers, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square Roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound) , Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership and business.  The main objective of this section is to select a candidate who can do mathematics fast and correct.


Regular chapter wise practice of this section can bring good marks in this section. The important theories, theorems, and fundamental rules should be kept in brain always. The short cut methods to solve the numerical most accurately and in time should be learnt. Finding out of correct answers from the options given in the questions is to be practiced.

General Awareness

This section contains basic questions from Indian History, Culture, Indian Economics, Politics, Indian Constitution, general Science, Geography, Physics, and Chemistry. It also contains questions from National and International Organizations, Sports, Geographical names, important dates, books and Authors etc.

Current Affairs

The national and International events occurred in the last 5 to 6 months before the examination will come as questions under the current affairs. As the examination is related to LIC, so the questions will be mostly from latest developments in economic sector, Interest rates of banks, central budget, Credit Policies, latest rules, developments, notifications in the Policies of LIC. It also includes National and International Awards, Nobel Prizes, awards received by noted people in Entertainment, cinema, authors, writers, National and International Sports and Trophies etc.


General awareness and current affairs both sections seems to be little hard to practice, but with regular and disciplined study, this can be overcome easily. General Knowledge should be practiced from its fundamentals. While reading Indian constitution, History, Indian Economics, the fundaments are very important. To get a good grip on current affairs candidate should make a habit of Newspaper Reading (English and Local Language). Important points from news papers to collected and noted down for future reference.

English Language

This section consists of question from Fundaments of English and basics of grammar. The candidate should acquire knowledge on vocabulary, correction of sentences, jumbled sentences, spotting of errors, close test etc.


As this section is related to English Language, the proper usage of grammar and acquiring good grip on it will help you in getting more marks. Everyday the candidate should learn at least 5 new terms of English. This section consists of objective type of questions; candidate should learn speaking in English and developing communication in English.

Time management with Model papers

Practicing and Solving of questions from Model papers with proper time management will improve the candidate’s confidence in examination hall.

Points to keep in mind

The selection for LIC Apprentice Development Officers will be done through an online test. So practicing of questions online is very essential.
Do not buy every book available in market related to his examination.
Prepare a time table keeping in mind the examination date. Concentrate on the subject where you are not able to score much.
The preparation for this examination should be Logical and Technical only.
