Steel authority of India (SAIL) is a public sector undertaking and acts like an operating company largely owned by the government of India. Initially the Hindustan Steel Limited (HSL) is established in 1954 to enhance the industrialization of the country taking care of the three steel plants that have been built during that period. Later on with a policy drafted by the Ministry of steel and mines of creating a holding company for managing the inputs and outputs under one umbrella the SAIL was incorporated on January 24, 1973 with an initial capital of Rs 2000 crores and made responsible to manage the five integrated steel plants at that time and was also restructured as an operating company in 1978. SAIL is now one of the five Maharatnas, profit earning corporate of the country. Pay Scale : During training period Rs. 8600 is paid as stipend for 1st year & Rs. 10000 for the 2nd year. After successful completion of training they will be absorbed in Steel Authority of India Limited as Operators and Technicians in S1 Scale Rs. Rs.8630- 3%- 12080.
