like CV Raman, Homi Baba, Vikram Sarabhai, Satish Dhavan have worked as
directors to this institution making it one among the world class universities.

The institute of IISC had initially begun with two departments like General and Applied chemistry and Electro-technology which now offers masters degrees, PhD’s, Integrated PhD’s (post Bsc) in various departments of engineering. Recently 4 years a bachelor in science (B.S) undergraduate course has been introduced in the institution. For research work all latest and highly equipped labs and libraries are available to conduct research or refer books. According to the latest developments in engineering science many new courses have been introduced in the IISC in disciplines of mathematical sciences, Nano technology, PhDs in engineering and new courses in Bio engineering are started. Recently courses like MTech in transportation engineering, master program in management with technology management as a major and business analytics have also been started. IISC has also established new centers in the fields of earth sciences, climate change and neuroscience. It is also encouraging postdoctoral researches in different fields of science and engineering.
