Preparation for UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2015

What is the exam pattern of UPSC Engineering Services?
UPSC Engineering Services exam is conducted for 1200 marks. In this the written exam carries 1000 marks and the interview remaining 200 marks. There are two sections in the written exam.
Section 1: objective papers: In this the general ability test carries 200 marks. This paper carries questions on general English and general studies subjects. In the same section there are also two papers on the subject chosen by the candidate. Each paper carries 200 marks and the time allotted for each paper is 2 hours. There is negative marking for UPSC ESE objective type question papers.
Section 2: conventional papers: In this section there are two papers related to the subject chosen. Marks for each paper are 200 and the time allotted for each paper is 3 hours.

Eligibility for UPSC Engineering Services and application procedure:
UPSC ESE is conducted on four papers. They are civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics and communications engineering. Candidates from other branches also have to select one paper from the above to attempt the exam. Candidates should be in-between 21 to 30 years. Candidates having education qualification in any of the below categories are eligible for the UPSC Engineering Services exam 2015.
Those having an engineering degree and in their last year of the degree
Those who have qualified in the A, B sections of AMIE.
Those who have qualified in the graduate membership examination conducted by institute of electronics and telecommunication engineering of India and London.
Those who have qualified in the exam part 2, part 3 or section A, section B in the associate membership exam conducted by aeronautical society of India can write UPSC ESE 2015.
Those who have studied M.Sc wireless communication, electronics, radio physics and radio engineering can attempt for UPSC ESE 2015.
