Nursing Courses, Job Opportunities, Details and List of Nursing Colleges in India.

Nursing Profession Employment NewsAccording to some surveys by 2020 there is a requirement for 2 crore nurses across the globe. This is because of an increase in the number of old age people, increase of patients and also new diseases affecting the health of people. Since nursing has turned out into a job guarantee profession many middle class and poor students are showing interest to join this course. There are also different specializations available in nursing courses. 

List of Nursing Courses

B.Sc. nursing:

This course is offered with a four years duration that can be done by students who have qualified in intermediate with Bi.P.C. Across the state there are 10,498 seats available in the 6 government colleges and 201 private nursing institutes. However to get a seat in any of these colleges intermediate marks are the key as there is no special entrance test conducted for this nursing course. The seats are filled up the NTR health university.

M.Sc. Nursing:

For this course the notification is released every year in July/August by the NTR health university. Those who have done their B.Sc. nursing or post basic Bsc nursing with 55% above marks are eligible. Admissions are conducted through the entrance test. Across the state there are almost 17 colleges offering this M.Sc. nursing course.

General Nursing and Midwifery Course:

GNM stands for general nursing midwifery. This course comes with 3 ½ years duration and one year exception is given to those who have done ANM course. Across the state this course is being offered in 234 colleges. Minimum qualification to join in this course is intermediate Bi.P.C.

Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery Course:

To do the auxiliary nurse midwife course one has to pass out 10th class. This is a 1 ½ year course and on completion one can join as a nurse.

Military Nursing Service (MNS):

To join in this course one has to pass out intermediate with 45% marks in intermediate Bi.P.C course. Age should be 17 to 24 years. Unmarried women, divorced women and also those who have lost their husbands are eligible for this course. Admissions are conducted through the written test. One should write a bond that on completion of the course they shall work for 4 to 5 years in the military hospital. This course is being offered by 16 institutes across the country. In Andhra Pradesh Secundrabad military hospital is offering this course.

To those who have done nursing course can find opportunities in government, private, corporate hospitals, nursing homes, private clinics, old age homes, schools, industrial houses of various private industries, various central government organizations, industries and also demand in the health sector of the Indian railways.

Nursing Job Opportunities in Abroad:

For those who have completed nursing courses can find opportunities not only in the state and central level government and private hospitals but also a chance of working in abroad. Primarily as there is shortage for nurses in the western countries India is becoming the main source to fill in the gap. In this scenario, countries like America, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore etc are turning into the main target for those who have qualified nursing courses in our country. To get hold of those opportunities one has to write the eligible tests conducted by the government of in those countries. For example if one wants to settle down in America as a nurse they have  to write and qualify the national council licenser examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN) that is conducted by the commission on graduates of foreign schools (CGFNS). Similarly to become a nurse in Canada one has to qualify in the Canadian registered nurse examination (CRNE) mandatorily. Along with these countries there is also lot of opportunities for the Indian nursing candidates in the gulf countries. By having good relevant knowledge in nursing along with English language one can easily find nursing jobs in foreign countries. One can also earn five thousand dollars salary in the beginning of their career.

Nizam institute of medical sciences (NIMS)
Medical surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, community health, maternity and child health, psychiatric nursing specializations are offered for the M.Sc. nursing course.

Eligibility: bachelor degree in nursing (in the format of 10+2+4)

Sri Venkateswara institute of medical sciences (SVIMS) Tirupati: This University is also offering M.Sc. nursing course.
