Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) – 02/2013 Notification


AFCAT 02/2013 Employment Newswww.careerairforce.nic.in is the Indian Air Force’s official website for recruitment. IAF has released notification for the much awaited Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 02/2013. It is inviting online applications through IAF Career website from adventurous male Indian citizens desirous to start their career in Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officers in Flying, Technical and Ground Duty branches for courses commencing in July 2014. Last date to apply online is 7th July, 2013.

AFCAT July 2014 Course Details:


AFCAT 14th Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch

Age Limit: born between 2nd July, 1991 to 1st July, 1995
Pay Scale: Rs. 15,600 to 39,100
Physical Standards: Minimum height 162.5 CMs with correlated weight
Leg Length: 99 – 120 CMs
Thigh Length: 64 CMs
Sitting Height:  81.5 to 96 CMs

Educational Qualifications: Graduation in any discipline with not less than 60% marks in aggregate. In addition a candidate applying for AFCAT 2/2013 flying branch should have passed 10+2 with mathematics and Physics.

AFCAT Technical Branches

There will be two branches in AFCAT Technical Branch i.e. Electronics Branch and Mechanical Branch.

1.    AFCAT Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics Branch) Course

Age Limit: 18 to 28 years
Pay Scale: Rs. 15,600 to 39,100
Physical Standards: Minimum height 157.5 CMs with correlated weight

Educational Qualifications: B.E / B.Tech or AMIE or GME or Aeronautical Society of India

Disciplines of candidates, from which can apply for AFCAT Aeronautical Engineering Electronics Branch Course.

(L1) Physics / Engineering Physics (L2) Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics (L3) Engineering Graphics  /  Engineering  Drawing  (L4)  Electrical  Engineering  /  Electrical  Technology  (L5)  Control Engineering (L6) Microprocessors (L7) Digital Electronics / Basic Electronics (L8) Computer Networks (L9) Information Technology (L10) Network Theory Design (L11) Telecommunication Systems  (L12) Electronic Circuit Design (L13) Radar Theory  (L14) Switching Theory (L15) Instrumentation (L16) Microwave Engineering (L17) Antenna and Wave Propagation (L18) Electronic Devices with minimum 60% marks.

2.    AFCAT Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical Branch) Course


Age Limit: 18 to 28 years
Pay Scale: Rs. 15,600 to 39,100
Physical Standards: Minimum height 157.5 cms with correlated weight
Educational Qualifications: B.E / B.Tech or AMIE or GME or Aeronautical Society of India

(M1) Physics / Engineering Physics (M2) Engineering Maths / Mathematics (M3) Engineering Drawing / Graphics (M4) Automotive Engineering / Plant Engineering / Industrial Engineering (M5) Engineering Mechanics / Strength of Material (M6) Aerodynamics (M7) Thermodynamics and Applications / Heat Power Engineering (M8)  Heat  and Mass Transfer (M9) Theory  of Machines (Kinematics  and  Dynamics  of Machinery) (M10) Fluid Mechanics  / Turbo Machines (M11) Flight Mechanics (M12) Machine Drawing / Machine Design (M13) Mechatronics  (M14) Material Science / Metallurgy (M15) Vibrations  (M16) Workshop Technology / Manufacturing Technology / Production Engineering (M17) Hydraulics and Pneumatics   (M18) Aircraft Structures.

AFCAT Ground Duty Branches 

There are three branches in AFCAT Ground Duty Branch i.e. Administration and Logistics, Accounts and Education Branch.

Age Limit: 20 to 27 years according to their qualification (please check original notification)
Physical Standards: Minimum height 157.5 Cms with correlated weight
Pay Scale: Rs. 15,600 to 39,100

1.    Administration and Logistics Branch:

Educational Qualifications: Graduation in any discipline with not less than 60% marks in aggregate. Post graduates with 50% marks can also apply for AFCAT Administration and Logistics Branch in Indian Air Force.

2.    Accounts Branch:

Educational Qualifications: B.Com with not less than 60% marks in aggregate or M.Com. / CA / ICWA with at least 50% marks.

3.    Education Branch

Educational Qualifications: Post Graduation with not less than 50% marks in any discipline
