ICWA Course, Job Opportunities and List of Regional Councils

ICWAI Employment NewsOne best option for the students who wish to build a future career in commerce and accounting sectors is the Cost and Work Accountancy (CWA) course. The Institute of Cost and Works Accountancy of India (ICWAI) is offering this program. This course is offered in three phases. That is foundation, intermediate and final course.

ICWA Foundation course:

To get registered for this program, the minimum qualification is intermediate. This program exam is conducted twice every year in June and December. Those who would like to appear for the exam in June need to register their name before December 5th of the previous year and those who would like to attend for the December examination need to register their name before June 5th of the same year. There are four papers in this foundation course.

ICWA Intermediate course:

Those who have qualified intermediate foundation course or those who have done a degree are eligible to register their names for this program. There are two stages in intermediate course with three papers in each stage.

ICWA Final course:

There are two stages in the final course (stage 3 and 4). Those who have qualified ICWAI intermediate can first choose any one of the stage in the final course to complete based on their interest or apply for both the stages at one time. These exams are also conducted twice in the year, June and December. The application dates are just the same like the foundation course.

Higher Education:

Those who have completed CWA final can further do post graduate courses in commerce, accounting or management related programs. They can also write for competitive exams like groups or civil services.

CWA-IGNOU joint course:

For the convenience of those students who have joined foundation course with intermediate qualification, the ICWAI institute has made a memorandum of understanding with Indira Gandhi national Open University to offer B.Com (financial and cost accounting) and similarly to those who have registered for the intermediate course with degree qualification to do M.Com (management accounting and financial strategies) as specialized courses simultaneously.

Career Opportunities with ICWA Course

Those who have done CWA can join in manufacturing organizations, mining companies and other industrial sectors as junior accounts officer or as cost auditors. One can also get job opportunities on completing intermediate course without the necessary of waiting till the completion of CWA final. In India mostly mining companies in the government and private sector are taking CWA intermediate qualifiers as trainees in their companies. Along with this many organizations are also conducting campus recruitments in the ICWAI chapters throughout India offering jobs. Minimum salary can be expected from Rs 25,000 onwards.

Those who have completed ICWAI final shall have an opportunity for jobs in the Indian cost and accounts services.

Required skill sets for this ICWA Course:

The main aim of cost and works accountancy job is to check the costs in the process of manufacturing a product and take measures to reduce the costs without any obstacle for the product manufacturing target. It means that manufacturing of the products have to go on smoothly and on the other hand costs should be kept under control. To manage this type of job responsibilities one should have the skills to deal with various cost related issues and accountancy problem solving abilities. For this one should have the patience to spend time in solving accounts and cost related issues.
