A Railway Scheme, introduced by South Central Railway to show unemployment to locals.

South Central Railway officials have initiated a novel scheme to facilitate passengers to get tickets easily in small Railway Stations and for this purpose they decided to appoint ‘Station Ticket Booking Sevaks’ (STBS) in 207 small Railway Station. It provides jobs to the local unemployed youth.
Presently, this job is being done by the Station Masters themselves and this scheme is introduced in view of the difficulties faced by them in the discharge of the other duties they are expected to perform. While there are more than 690 Stations in South Central Railway, there are around 220 small Stations, where only 5 or 6 passenger trains have their halts. Mr.K.Sambasiva Rao, CPRO, South Central Railway has issued a notification on 29th May, stating therein that they have devised this scheme to provide employment as STBS to the local unemployed youth, who are aged between 18 and 35 years.

10th Class pass candidates, who are locals, will be appointed as STBS, basing on the confirmation of nativity with certificate issued by the Tahsildar. Commission on the tickets sold will be his remuneration. Selected candidates will have to pay Rs.2,000 as Deposit, show Bank Guarantee for Rs.20,000 and pay security deposit of Rs.5,000. On fulfilling these conditions, the Ticket Booking Counter will be handed over to them. These appointments will be taken up in 58 stations in Secunderabad Division, 27 in Hyderabad Division, 58 in Vijayawada Division, 13 in Guntur Division, 37 in Guntakal Division and 14 in Nanded Division. Mr. Sambasiva Rao further stated that these appointments are taken up through the Commercial department of the Railway and the notification has been uploaded on to their website and that further details can be ascertained from the nearest Senior Divisional Commercial Manager‘s office.
